Launceston Airport is a one and a half hour drive from Cradle Mountain, and served by Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Qantas. Launceston is the main airport of entry for Wildside competitors flying to the event because of access to discount fares, flexibility of flight times and availability of space for bike transport. A word of warning in respect of bike transport though – check the excess baggage charges before booking and include your bike in your booking.
Devonport Airport is located about 70 minutes drive from Cradle Mountain and may offer an option for some participants or support crew who are travelling without bikes. Burnie Airport (in Wynyard) is the closest airport to the finish in Strahan - approximately 3 hours drive - and provides an another alternative for people who are travelling without bikes.
