Xavier Alonso is set to lead his team into their 100th Bundesliga game at home to Holstein Kiel on Saturday.
Leverkusen coach Xavier Alonso is targeting victory over Holstein Kiel on Saturday as he celebrates his 100th Bundesliga game in charge, Ufabet reported on Friday.
Alonso took over from Gerardo Seuane at Leverkusen after eight games of the 2022-23 season and the Spaniard made history with the Bundesliga champions last season by winning the club’s first Bundesliga title without defeat and also lifting the DFB-Pokal, but was disappointed in the Europa League final, losing to Atalanta.
In his previous 99 Bundesliga games in charge, Alonso won 67, drew 20 and lost just 12.
“Every league match is tough, and we have learned that this season already,” Alonso said.
“We expect the same tomorrow. They only have a point but deserve a bit more than what they have at the moment.”
“In our heads and our preparation, it is only Kiel. We have full respect. They are a good opponent, very flexible in their lineup.
“I expect to see my team to be mature and intelligent. We have to show that we are fully prepare.
“My team plays with the same motivation in every game, so I have no reason to doubt them, and we will hopefully show it tomorrow.”
‘There’s a lot going on and we’ve all been through a lot together. The development of the club and the team has been incredible and I’m proud to be part of this process.’
‘I learned a lot and it was difficult at times, UFABET especially the first few months, I will never forget it. I hope we can celebrate the victory together tomorrow,’ Alonso said ahead of the game against Holstein Kiel.
